FIRST WORLD POISONS

All I could feel was emptiness and I couldn't deal with my thoughts. I dabbled in temporary remedies, but now the cravings haunt me. So I shut up and...

...suck back the dreams of my life unfulfilled.
Not caring anymore, I’m just consumed by the guilt.
The blood once meant to cleanse is now clogging up my soul
as I trade away my future, handing over self-control.

I’ve judged myself into nothingness, I’ve burned every bridge that I've got. I’m too scared to got out into public anymore.
So I just stay home and rot.

Caught in a trap, like the rest of us are in.
Chasing carrots on a stick that no one ever wins.
We feed on the fat that eats us from inside.
With every bite I take, I’m swallowing my pride.

It appears my prescription is wrong. And the time for intervention is gone. I thought big pharmacy and homeland security,
was here to help protect us all!

Does it taste like poison? That’s because it is Smart Ass!
You think you’re somehow immune.
I thought you were smarter than that.
The exception to the rule a one of a kind Dumb Ass!
But to use or refuse that’s up to you Smart Ass!

I know it really sucks when you miss the big sale
because your drive to the store was late.
I know it really sucks you couldn’t enjoy your meal,
you didn’t like the décor of the place.
But who am I to complain, and call out this frivolous waste?
I guess I didn’t exploit the earth enough to appreciate all of it’s finer things.

But when I ask the question, I am met with denial. How much does prestige cost? The kind we can only afford on credit, like the rest of the first world does? What are we giving away? What kind of future is at stake? Has anyone read the fine clause?
And we continue to believe none of this matters, as long as people envy me cause I’ve got more shit than they’ve got.

Now the authorities are kicking down my door.
Is this a punishment for being poor?
Did I pay off the wrong card?
Or did I pray to the wrong god?

We’ve used the earth as our battery, just sucking it bone dry.
Turning positive into negative, knowing that it will die!

And now the poles are melted, and the tide is washing in,
everything we thought we'd thrown away is at our feet again.
Lies eat away at what little truth is left. Until we’re fighting with each other for the last crumbs on the shelf.

The time to discuss this is gone. It appears that fear and apathy have won. And the pessimists and the anarchists were the ones right all along! You Dumb Ass.
